JONATHAN BARON

Jonathan Baron Experienced Horticulturalist
Jonathan studied Horticulture at Askham Bryan College, York where at the age of eighteen achieved a silver at the Chelsea Flower Show. He was chosen for the prestigious apprenticeship scheme at Harewood House, Leeds helping to look after the grounds of the stately home belonging to Lord and Lady Harewood (cousin to HRH The Queen). Jonathan was quickly offered full-time work and was asked to manage the private gardens for Lord and Lady Harewood. As well as developing experience of estate maintenance and formal landscaping, he helped install the stunning Italian parterre
terrace and a large piece of land art by the London artist, Kate Whiteford. He was also instrumental in renovating the Walled Garden and Japanese gardens to their former glory. Jonathan spent 14 years developing his skills here.

Jonathan spent a number of years working for a highly regarded hard landscaping company in Harrogate where he became team leader working on large projects (including site-wide hard landscaping and planting schemes) across the North of
England. With this additional knowledge under his belt, he went on to set up his own successful gardening business – Conker Landscapes in 2011. He and his staff have looked after some of the most prestigious gardens and beautiful private estates, including the Kitchen Garden for the Michelin starred restaurant- The
Yorke Arms.

Jonathan is proud to be working with his son, Will Baron who completed his horticultural apprenticeship and now works full time for Conker. Will is extremely skilled at using all forms of machinery and has recently passed his advanced chainsaw certificate.
